Drive to Umm ar-Rasas which has a mention in both the old and New Testaments. It was fortified by the Romans as well. It is still embellished in Byzantine-style mosaics by the local Christians.
Drive to Mukawer, a stronghold of Herod the Great. Upon Herod’s death, his son Herod Antipas inherited the fortress and it’s from here that he ordered John the Baptist to be beheaded after Salome’s fateful dance of the seven veils.
